We don't have snow thank goodness, just minus twelve - 12°c this morning, only 22 more days till the first day of spring. I do hope the weather knows that.

We are en route up the mountain and now discover the French have closed the road from Ax les thermes 🙁 Will have to take the tunnel up to Bourg Madame , round the Spanish side and attack from the south . There is no snow at the bottom but I imagine it’s avalanche issues as the wind is ferocious . Stopped at a service and I hopped in for a pee . Its a good job my crutch technique has improved ...almost blown over FFS .

About 8 inches here. Went to gym and it was shut. A66 was empty but at scotch corner we discovered they had closed it west bound with a council wagon across the entrance to the duel carriageway so I had a word and persuaded him to let us through as it was only 8 miles back to where we turn off. It was great! Our own private motorway, could weave in and out of the lines, go as fast as you liked!
Mrs D went out walking in the fecker while I entertained the people outside clearing the snow with few chords. At Barny now for "provisions". Rest of the week is cancelled

We're housebound at the moment.
We went to the Hospital early doors, roads weren't too bad and parked up easily, then had to wait an hour while the Consultant turned up (probably couldn't get off his feckin drive or his battery was flat), came out to pay the horrendous car park charges and the Snow was sweeping across the car parks like a blizzard.
Took well over half an hour to get home (only a five minutes journey earlier this morning) and saw cars slipping and sliding all over the place.
Then we had to clear the snow off the drive to get the car back on it and she broke her snow shovel.
Hells bells, I had to get my own shovel out and clear the heavy falling snow - I'm knackered.
And there's no adventure in her these days - just because the roads were blocked she cancelled the 50 mile round trip she was supposed to go on to Nottingham - and we're running out of Werners Originals.
Bl**dy baked beans on toast for dinner and we haven't got a newspaper today.
How much worse can it get ?

The only place open in Barnard Castle to eat was the chippy. Plenty of people about but clearly everyone decided not to come into work today. Roads between here and there are normally very quiet anyway but its like being in one of the post apocalyptic films where your the only survivor. If the wind gets up you could well be buggered though as its fine powdery snow and it will drift and pile up on the twisty roads around here. Anyway we had a nice lunch in the Bowes Museum and it looks lovely in the snow as does the Abbey on the way home. The new car is great fun in the snow and spins around like a little toy go kart (J turns and Handbrake )

Disaster! I went out to the dustbin and when I got back, I had to brush some snow off my slippers, FFS. The last time I saw this much snow in Paignton, it turned out to be confetti at a wedding. How much longer before this horrid white stuff blows away?

They let him in because he's their resident expert on their Velcro exhibition.

I should rephrase that and say we had lunch AT the museum not in it. Picnic in the car! However as the Gnome mentioned me breaking stuff I think its probably ok for me to now tell you the story of the ancient and priceless French chair. When I was about ten years old my father who was a bit of a bigwig in education was invited to visit the "private parts" of the Museum you see in the picture for an exclusive look at some of their rare treasures and to select some exhibits to show around some of the schools in Durham County. I was told to be on my best behaviour and not to touch anything. Of course I quickly got bored on the "Exclusive tour" and sloped of unnoticed. In a room I found there was this grand throne like chair and being me I thought I would give it a go. The fecking thing broke as soon as I sat on it. Two legs just fell off! Shitting myself I tried to shove it out of the way and then kind of stick the legs back on. This was worse that stealing my mothers Mini Van and crashing it into my sisters new bike FFS which at that time was probably my worse offence so far. I left it there looking a bit lopsided and rejoined the group, remembering to act like the very interested and intelligent child, asking lots of questions but none at all about chairs! I was so relieved to get out of there. For months I assumed at one point the game would be up and me and my entire family would be headline news for fucking over some priceless bit of antique furniture but so far so good. Dont tell anyone.
